I took my first spring stroll around the barnyard this weekend to identify the most obvious projects to put on the unending (in a good way) list of repairs and improvements. Actually, I TRIED to sit down and simply look around, but Jessie was having none of that.
First on the list, there’s the Christmas lights. I like ’em, so they’re staying year round.
Then there’s the matter of the steps on the back of the pallet lean-to. I bought finished interior stairs at the used building supply place. I painted the particle board treads, hoping that would protect them from the elements.
My rock pile for Jessie and Brandy to play on has turned into…less of a pile and more of a blob.
Oh, and there’s a distinct headed-to-the-right vibe at the lean-to. Since Jessie and Brandy play on it daily, it needs to be stabilized.
But the big project is my adopted roof. It’s been there since I brought it home. Every time we had a big snow or wind storm this winter I held my breath and hoped the whole fence wouldn’t collapse.
I’ve got a plan. I think the barnyard gang will approve. Until the winds of spring subside (it’s blowing like CRAZY out there right now) I hope the fence will stay put. I discovered the roof has been around so long something’s growing in there…
Then Doink got curious and came over.
Doink took a LONG time sniffing. Brandy decided to take a rest. Usually she sits on the stump, looking stately and pretty.
This time, not so much. (She’s not dead, just napping. I promise.) Not a very flattering pose, is it?

It looks warm there. A nice warm (although, windy) day. I could have one of those right now.

It WAS warm, and then the cold winds blew again today. Patience is so hard for me! Hope that foot of yours is healing 🙂

I absolutely love your animal “voice” captions. Get me every time 🙂
They would type their own “voices” but darn those hooves and chicken feet. I hope my translation is true!
Okay so whats growing on behind the roof? I can’t wait to see what you do with it. Love that everyone in barnyard is soaking in the sunshine….happiness 🙂

This is one of those projects that I can’t do by myself, but I’ve got a plan to get recruits. We are gonna have a barnyard work party soon!
Oh yeah great idea… Barnyard work party, love it!

Ha! Love to see your ‘to-do’ list, especially since I have just been round our land and made lists too! Nice to be doing it, since it means that the warmer, outdoor-type weather is here. But I find I’ve become out of condition during the winter – don’t know what’s happened to my stamina. I think a little at a time is the answer. 🙂
My stamina is not bad, but ooh, a little sunshine on my arms and legs to tan them up a bit would sure make them look better!
Nice to see others have long lists too. I am hoping the spring sun will give me some ambition to get mone all done. I love visiting with your farm animals!

It’s funny how the list never really gets shorter over the summer – when something gets finished, something else crops up!
I love your blog and I love seeing your happy animals! Thanks for sharing your post on the HomeAcre Hop! Hope to see you again tomorrow! – Nancy The Home Acre Hop
